Feeling Lost With No Way Out

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where, no matter which way you turned, there seemed to be no way forward?
Just a couple of weeks ago, I had an experience that reminded me how true it is that help is always available — even when we feel completely lost.
I was heading to the beautiful Manchester Monastery to attend a workshop I’d been looking forward to for weeks. I left home early, excited and calm, imagining I’d arrive with enough time to enjoy a quiet drink before the session began. Despite all my forward planning, what I didn’t know was that the Great Manchester Run was happening that same morning. My usual route was closed, and I found myself following a single diversion sign… which ultimately led me straight into the heart of the city — and into a maze of blocked roads and closed exits.
My sat nav, well-meaning but completely confused, kept urging me to take roads that simply didn’t exist anymore — “Turn left,” she said, again and again… but left was blocked. “Turn right”… that was closed too. With every turn, I became more disoriented, I had no idea how to get out and I became aware that the workshop was about to begin.
In that moment of feeling utterly stuck, I took a deep breath and asked my angels to help me.
Not even a minute later, I spotted a traffic warden standing by the side of the road. I pulled over, and asked him for help. I explained I was lost and told him where I needed to go. With a kind smile and clear directions, he guided me out of the city centre — and within minutes, I was near Piccadilly train station. I knew exactly where I was. A wave of relief washed over me. I was going to make it.
And I did. I arrived only ten minutes late. Time had felt like it had bent itself in my favour. The workshop was everything I’d hoped for — and more. I was so grateful I hadn’t turned around and gone home.
What this experience showed me so clearly was this:
Even when every exit seems blocked, even when our usual ways of navigating life aren’t working, help is always available.
We are never truly alone. The Universe and our angels are always nearby, waiting lovingly for us to ask for assistance.
That day, my help came in the form of a traffic warden. It wasn’t the GPS that got me through — it was asking for guidance, trusting the answer, and being open to receiving it in an unexpected form.
So if you’re feeling lost right now — maybe not on the roads of Manchester, but in your life, your heart, or your purpose — please know this: help is just a breath, a prayer, a whisper away. Don’t be afraid to ask. Trust the support that comes, no matter how it shows up. It may not look like what you expected, but it will be exactly what you need.
I hope my story brings a little light to wherever you are today. And if this message has touched your heart, I’d love to hear from you.
