It’s OK not to feel OK

Hi beautiful people……how many of you are going through a rough time right now? How many of you keep being told by friends, who mean well that you need to be strong? That you need to be ok?

This is what people do…..
I remember when my dad passed away a few years ago….less than 2 weeks later when I was upset, I was told, ‘ Don’t let your mother see you like that. Be strong.’
NO!!!!!!! I did not want to be strong….I wanted to cry!!!

Every time something happens people have expectations that you should be strong and ‘get over’ whatever it is that has happened……

This is NOT TRUE!!

As young children many of us are not allowed to express our feelings,,,,,we get told to ‘stop crying’, or we get told off for being angry…..

Children are brilliant at expressing their feelings when they are very small….a baby will let you know it needs attention….a small child will cry or get angry….but pretty soon that will be soon stop because of parents or teachers or close family members telling them to stop…..

We are all human beings who have emotions…..our emotions need to be expressed…..we need to know that it is OK to express our emotions…..we need to know it is OK for us not to feel OK…..

I am done with pretending…..I am done with wearing a mask and pretending I am OK…..I release my feelings in a healthy and safe way and I invite you to do the same…..

And if someone tells you to ‘be strong’ and you don’t want to be strong right there and then, please know that that’s OK.

I am not pointing the finger of blame here at parents or teachers or friends…..they mean well and are only acting from the knowledge and understanding they have at that time…..

You are not a small child anymore….you are an adult now and nobody gets to tell you how to feel or behave….

Please know that it’s OK not to be OK….

Sending you all my love.

Lynn
