You Really Do Make A Difference
This week I have been blown away by the love and support I have received from family and friends.
On Tuesday, I found an email in my inbox that completely took me by surprise…..I had been nominated for the 2018 Inspire Women Awards.
At that point, I had no idea who had nominated me and I felt overwhelmed with joy and began to cry…..I was in a state of complete shock. Me? Nominated for this award? I was over the moon!!
I recorded a short video whilst still crying and posted it on facebook….the response was incredible!!! My video has over 800 views and over 100 comments…..some of the comments made me cry, again….so much love, so much support. And in one of these comments I found out who had nominated me; it was Maura Jackson CEO of BYPHS….and the reason she gave for nominating me made me cry again…..
My message to you is that you really don’t know how many people’s lives you are touching, every day.
Yes, I believe I inspire people and that is what I aspire to do.
Yet, I had no idea that I inspired so many people. Some people I have met, others I haven’t., they just like what I post on facebook.
I wonder if all the people you had come into contact with either personally or otherwise would say that you inspired them with that smile you gave them when they felt nothing no longer mattered, or the change you gave to a homeless person bought them some hot food on a bitterly cold day, or the bunch of flowers you bought someone had brightened up their day, or the card you sent someone, even though it wasn’t their birthday but it was just simply because you wanted them to know you were thinking about them…..I could go on.
You see, every small act of kindness makes a huge difference. People remember. People know you care.
I had no idea how many people remembered how, because of something I did or said, in some small way had touched their hearts.
So carry on being kind, carry on making a difference. Carry on inspiring people. Carry on making a difference in the world……
I feel so very, very humbled and so very, very grateful for all the love and support. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
