Why is it So Hard for You to Praise Yourself?

Hi beautiful people,
Last weekend I was invited to run a couple of workshops at a Women’s Wellbeing Conference.
The workshops I did were back-to-back with around 20+ women on each workshop.
The workshop (more of a talk really as I only had 30 mins for each one), was about Louise Hay’s 12 Ways to Love Yourself.
When I got to number six; ‘Praise Yourself’, I asked the women in the groups to raise their hand if they had ever praised themselves.
NOT ONE SINGLE HAND WENT UP.
NOT ONE.
What is it about praising ourselves that we find so hard?
Usually, it’s a belief we have that it’s big headed or vain to praise yourself. Or we worry too much about how other people will react or perceive us if we praise ourselves. Phrases like, ‘Who does she think she is?’ spring to mind.
Today I invite you to let go of that FALSE BELIEF.
IT IS NOT BIG HEADED OR VAIN TO PRAISE YOURSELF!!
It’s you telling yourself that you are doing a good job!!
It’s you telling yourself that you are doing ok.
It’s you telling yourself that all is well.
It’s you telling yourself that you’ve got this.
It’s you ACKNOWLEDGEING yourself for showing up.
For those of you who have ever been on my monthly Heal Your Life support calls or done any online courses with me or had coaching with me, then you already know that at the beginning of every session I ask you to close your eyes, place your hands on your heart centre and acknowledge yourself for showing up. Acknowledge yourself for doing the best you can. Acknowledge yourself for being the beautiful, amazing women that you are.
Why?
Because praise builds you up and criticism knocks you down. Criticism chips away at your self-worth, your self-esteem, your confidence, and your deservability. You’ve been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked so try praising yourself instead and notice the difference.
So, praise yourself from now on, every day!!
Praise makes you feel good.
I invite you right now as you are reading this newsletter, to close your eyes and place your hands on your heart centre, breathe in and acknowledge yourself for doing the best you can and for anything else you can think of. Notice how this makes you feel and make it part of your daily practice.
Sending you all so much love from my heart to yours.
Lynn
