31 Days Of I Love Myself Enough : Day 2

DAY TWO: I LOVE MYSELF ENOUGH TO SPEAK KINDLY TO MYSELF

This was a revelation to me!!! For years I had criticised myself.

I was so hard on myself. Never praising myself, always criticising.

Louise Hay wrote a list of 12 ways to love yourself (originally this was a list of 10 and then she added 2 more later.)

Number one on that list is to stop all criticism. Of yourself first then others.

This took me many years of practise. I had to catch myself and really pay attention to my self-talk. I had no idea I was being so hard on myself.

I remember all the other voices of criticism…….parents, teachers, siblings, family members, work colleagues, bosses, managers……it was never ending!!

I cringe now when I hear other people criticise themselves…. if I am able to and it’s appropriate, I call them out for it.

It became so normal for me to criticise myself that I had no idea how much I did it. Of course it didn’t make me feel good. Criticism never makes anyone feel good.

When I became aware of what I was doing, I could change it. And I started to praise myself instead which made me feel good about myself.

When someone is kind to us we notice, it makes us feel good and encourages us to be kind to others.

I invite you to start being kind to yourself. When I am kind to myself it makes me feel so good.

We always have a choice about how we treat ourselves; we can be harsh, unkind and criticise ourselves or we can treat ourselves with kindness, love and praise ourselves.

Which one are you choosing?

Sending you all so much love from my heart to yours.
