31 Days Of I Love Myself Enough : Day 3

I LOVE MYSELF ENOUGH TO REST…..
I was always someone who never stopped!! I was so busy all the time, constantly doing things for other people……juggling so many plates…….running myself ragged……
I was brought up to believe that as a woman that’s what you did. And if you dare to rest you were considered to be lazy or incompetent. You were gossiped about as a ‘good for nothing,’ or unable to cope.
There was so much shame attached to resting……so much guilt so I carried on regardless of how I was feeling…….exhausted…….weary……no energy………
Because I was so tired and stressed I ended up off work for 6 months with work related stress……I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Louise Hay’s work taught me that rest was not being selfish….it was an act of self-love. This was another concept that was so alien to me.
How could I possibly function from an empty cup?
When your car needs petrol you go to the garage to fill the car with fuel…..if you don’t, the car will stop and would be unable to go any further…….
You body is your vehicle…..it needs fuel in order to function……it needs rest……it needs loving care and attention……
I looked after my car better than I looked after myself.
Now I rest without feeling shame because other people may think I can’t cope …..without feeling guilt…..
I listen to my body. I enjoy the rest. My body is grateful.
I would love to hear your thoughts……
Are you someone who wears her Superwoman cloak as a badge of honour?
Or are you someone who listens to their body and rests without feeling any shame or any guilt?
Sending you all so much love from my heart to yours

Lynn
