When You Feel “Blah”…

Let me ask you a simple question:
When you feel “blah” — what do you do?
- Do you carry on as usual, pushing through and pretending you’re fine?
- Do you throw yourself a little pity party?
- Or do you listen to your body and rest, allowing yourself to recover and restore?
On the surface, the answer may seem obvious. Of course we should rest, right?
But if that’s so clear, then why do so many of us ignore how we feel?
- What are we trying to prove?
- Who are we trying to impress?
- What story are we telling ourselves about what it means to stop?
Maybe your first response is, “I’m not trying to impress anyone.”
And yet… I invite you to go a little deeper, using what I call a line of enquiry — a gentle, curious way of exploring what’s really going on.
Try asking yourself:
- What would it mean if I did slow down or say no?
- What am I afraid will happen if I rest?
- What part of me still believes that slowing down equals failure?
- Who taught me that my worth is tied to how productive I am?
- What would self-kindness look like right now?
These questions aren’t about judgment — they’re about deeper awareness. They help us return to the truth of who we are, beyond our to-do lists and obligations.
I’m sharing this because honestly… I’ve been feeling a bit “blah” myself.
My throat has been sore, my energy low. So yesterday, I made the choice to stay home. I rested. I did what I would lovingly suggest you do — and gave myself space to recover.
I feel a bit better today, but not fully. So, I’ve also cancelled my meditation groups this evening. I know I wouldn’t be able to hold that sacred space the way it deserves. This is me, tuning in. Paying attention. Choosing care over pressure.
And yes — I almost didn’t write this week’s Love Note.
But I felt this message was too important not to share.
So here it is, from my heart to yours:
Please don’t ignore how you’re feeling.
You matter. Your health — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual — matters.
You don’t have to keep pushing. You don’t have to prove anything.
Take care of your beautiful self.
