How Stressed Are You?

I have a question for you; how stressed are you? Do you even know?
On a scale of 0 – 10 (0 being no stress at all and 10 being stressed to the hilt), just close your eyes and notice how stressed you feel RIGHT NOW. What number did you score?

If you scored anything under a 3 BRILLIANT!! Keep doing whatever it is you are doing!!
If you scored anything over a 3, then I invite you to make some changes; especially if your score was over a 6.
You see stress is SERIOUS if we don’t manage it properly.
Let me tell you how I know this.
Because about 14 years ago I was off work with work related stress for 6 months and didn’t end up going back!!
I hadn’t even realized just how stressed I was!!
I know, it seems impossible to grasp that; how could I not know?
I didn’t know because I had no idea what stress was. Or how to manage stress. Or how serious long- term stress was.
I chose to ignore all the signs, the headaches, the tiredness, the irritability, the sleeplessness nights, the aches and pains.
I just did what I had been told I ‘should’ do, ‘ Get on with it all.’ So I did.
When I eventually went to see my GP who put me on the sick with work related stress I have never been as ill in my life!!
It took me a LONG time to recover.
I now recognise my stress triggers and have coping mechanisms in place to deal with stress and manage stress so much better.

Here are some useful tips for you:
- Know what your own stress triggers are
- Have strategies in place to deal with stress
- Remember that stress affects our physical, emotional and mental bodies
Some stress relief techniques can be:
- Deep breathing
- Meditation
- Mindfulness
- Walk in nature
- Relaxation music
- Massage/spa therapy
- Reiki
- Yoga, Thai Chi, Qui Gong
- Walking
- ‘Me’ time
- Being with family or friends (provided they are not the ones who trigger your stress)!!
- Laughing
- Watching a feel- good movie
- Exercise/ gym
- Anything else you can think of
Ultimately, long-term stress is a killer. It needs to be taken seriously.
And the good news is that YOU CAN MAKE changes. YOU CAN introduce some stress relief techniques into your daily life.
The choice, as always is YOURS.

Having experienced stress myself and having been VERY POORLY for a long time; I now do whatever I can to manage stress.
I hope you have found this blog useful.
Sending you all so much love from my heart to yours.
Lynn
