International Women’s Day Special

This week, on March 8th we celebrate International Women’s Day, my heart is full of gratitude for the incredible women who have paved the way for us all — women who dared to dream, to speak, to stand tall in the face of adversity, and to inspire generations to find their voices.

Throughout history, women have fought tirelessly to be seen, heard, and valued. Their courage, resilience, and determination have shaped the world we live in today. From the suffragettes who battled for our right to vote to the trailblazers of modern society who continue to break barriers, we owe so much to these remarkable women.

This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, is a powerful reminder that change doesn’t happen by standing still. It’s about pushing forward, breaking barriers faster, and ensuring that women have a seat at the table. We must continue to uplift, empower, and take action to support women everywhere.

Some of the most inspirational women who have lit the way include:

  • Emmeline Pankhurst – A fearless leader of the suffragette movement, she led the charge for women’s voting rights in the UK, proving that persistence and passion can change the course of history.
  • Dame Millicent Fawcett – A champion of peaceful activism, her dedication to women’s rights helped secure the vote for women in Britain and continues to inspire advocacy today.
  • Mary Seacole – A pioneering nurse who overcame racial and gender barriers to provide vital care during the Crimean War, proving that kindness and determination can break through any obstacle.
  • Dame Judi Dench – A powerhouse of British theatre and film, she has shown the world that women can be bold, brilliant, and endlessly inspiring at any stage of life.
  • Malala Yousafzai – A Pakistani female education activist, her influence in the UK and beyond has been profound. A tireless advocate for girls’ education, she embodies the power of using one’s voice to create change.
  • Louise Hay – A visionary in self-love and healing, she empowered millions with her teachings on positive affirmations, self-belief, and the power of the mind to transform lives.
  • Baroness Doreen Lawrence – After the tragic murder of her son Stephen Lawrence, she became a leading voice for racial justice and reform, proving the strength of a mother’s love and unwavering determination for change.
  • Mother Teresa – A beacon of compassion and selfless service, she dedicated her life to helping the poor, sick, and dying, proving that true leadership comes from love and humility.
  • Maya Angelou – A poet, author, and activist whose powerful words have uplifted generations, reminding women of their strength, dignity, and resilience.
  • Pema Chödrön – A Buddhist nun and teacher who has guided many through life’s challenges with wisdom, grace, and resilience.

These are just a few of the countless women who have inspired us to rise, to speak up, and to claim our space in the world. Their stories remind us that no dream is too big, no voice too small, and no action insignificant.

To all the women reading this — never doubt your worth, your power, or your ability to make a difference. Let’s #AccelerateAction and continue to uplift, support, and inspire each other every day.

Let’s redefine what it means to lead as women, not just for one day but as a lifelong practice of empowerment and alignment.

It is no coincidence that I am celebrating International Women’s Day on the 8th March by hosting my Queen for a day retreat. I will be celebrating all the ladies who have invested in themselves on this very special day.
