My Valentine’s Day Message

Once again the shops are full of valentine cards, chocolates, red roses, and a whole load of other trinkets decorated with valentine messages…….It’s the same every 14th February.

Before writing this blog I thought I would look up what valentine meant; here’s what I found Valentine comes from the Latin Valentinus, which derives from valens—“to be strong, powerful, mighty.”

Being a single lady others often feel sorry for me at this time of year because I have no-one to share Valentines’ day with…….please do not feel sorry for me. There is absolutely no need.

You see, I celebrate Valentines’ day every day; granted, I may not go out and spend money on cards and roses for myself every day….what I do every day is love who I am….I celebrate myself every day.

It’s such a shame that we only give one day a year to focus on love…….

People don’t need cards, roses, chocolates or anything else to feel loved…..they just need to know that love starts with yourself first…..if you do not love yourself or even like yourself, how can you expect others to love you?

I had never heard of this concept of loving yourself until I came across the teachings of Louise Hay…..this is her message….

I know from my own experience that this is so very true.

For many years I did not love myself, nor did I really like who I was.

Learning to love myself was something I found very difficult to do, at first. After all, I had grown up believing that it was everyone else’s job to love me. I had no idea that I was meant to love myself.

It isn’t something anyone ever spoke about.

Being a certified Heal your Life workshop leader and coach I now make sure that I love myself more every day…..this is nothing to do with being conceited…..it is me actually loving who I am.

Here are a few ideas of how you can start to love yourself more every day:

  1. Be kind and gentle with yourself
  2. Stop criticizing yourself
  3. Look into a mirror and really ‘look’ at the person looking back at you; do you like him/her? Do you love her? If not, then start to love him/her……

Let me know how you get on…….

Whatever you are doing on Valentines’ day whether you are in a relationship or not…have a LOVEly day…..

With love and blessings

Lynn
