What I Brought Back from My Holidays

Hi beautiful people,

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last wrote to you.

Some of you may remember that I was going on holiday to the beautiful island of Kefalonia in Greece.

What did I bring back with me?

I brought back the feeling of being calm and relaxed and felt so much peace.

Why?

Because the Greek way of life is done in first gear.

You have to wait for your food to be prepared fresh from scratch.

They do NOT rush.

They serve you with a smile and with such Grace.

I soon fell in to their way of life.

I walked much more slowly, I was in no rush for anything.

I have made a commitment to myself that I will continue to live the Greek way rather than the UK way.

As soon I got back to Manchester airport the UK way became so apparent…

People standing up as soon as the seatbelt sign went off…… they had nowhere to go, yet they stood up…

As soon as the door was open a huge serge was made down the small aisle on the plane…

Walking through the airport terminal, people were rushing past me….. their suitcases weren’t even unloaded!!

Walking through the nothing to declare doors, I was almost knocked to the floor by a huge guy rushing past me with his case…

We got stuck in traffic on the motorway…

Everything I witnessed was being done in 5th gear….. with no thought for anyone else…

When did we allow this to happen?

When did we move gears from first to fifth?

Everything in the UK is speeded up!!

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We don’t have to fall in line with everyone else!!

I have been very conscious of how I am showing up every day and have managed to stay in first gear for almost a week since getting back.

Fifth gear doesn’t work for me. It’s too fast. You cannot be in the present moment in fifth gear.

Fifth gear is NOT sustainable.

My invitation to you is to ask yourself, ‘Which gear do I spend most of my time in?’

…and ask yourself ‘Do I want to stay in that gear or do I want to move down a couple of gears’?

The choice is yours.

Sending you all so much love from my heart to yours.

Lynn
