Why Tuning in to Your Feeling is So Important

Hi beautiful people,

What a week it has been!!

In the past week I have had 2 very long and heartbreaking conversations with both of my sons.

Without going into detail, my eldest son is going through a really difficult time in his personal life.

Hearing my son sobbing is heartbreaking.

Hearing my youngest son sobbing is heartbreaking. He is heartbroken because he loves his brother so much.

As a mother all I ever wanted was for both my sons to be happy; and for the most part they are. But when you hear their pain, and their sobs it is so heartbreaking.

I felt powerless; I did what I know I can do….. and that is to listen, to love unconditionally, and to offer support.

And in the meantime, I am running a business and supporting my clients.

By the middle of last week when I was at a network meeting I could feel my tears. I could feel an enormous upset coming over me.

I held it together and when I came home I cancelled all my plans for the following day because I wanted to process how I was feeling.

It was time to turn my focus and attention on me.

I got my trusted notepad and began to write how I was feeling….. I allowed the tears to fall… and there were many tears….. I wrote and I cried……

I spent the rest of the day being super kind and gentle with myself….. I gave myself lots of love and attention…..

I even walked about the house at a much slower rate….

I went to bed early and I awoke the following morning refreshed….

I felt so much better.

This is why it is so important to tune in to how we are feeling…..
and honour that feeling.

To keep suppressing your feelings is to ignore them….. to ignore yourself…. how can that be an act of loving yourself? You don’t ignore people you love so why would you ignore yourself?

I share this experience with you in the hope that it inspires you to check in more with your own feelings… own them… feel them…. allow them….. surrender to them…. release….. and be ultra kind, gentle and compassionate with yourself.

Feelings are nothing to be ashamed of.

Affirm to yourself, ‘It is OK for me to express my feelings’.
PS…

I want to share this clip with you all about a small child talking about feelings with his mum. May it inspire you all.
